History of the Department
Mr. P.G. Gangadara Ganapathy had twin responsibilities on his shoulders, as the first head of the department and vice principal of the college. He passed the baton to Mr.A. Subbiah as head and he held the responsibility from 1974 to 1981.And additionally, he took on the role of principal as well. Mr.Matharaja Pillai, Dr.V.Muthusamy, Dr. Pitchamuthu, Dr. Suseelan, Dr.T.S. Raghavan, Dr. Arunachalam, Mr.P.N. Pitchaiah (1995-2002), Dr. S.Balakrishnan (2002-10), Mr. S.Thirumalai Velauthan(2010-13), Dr.Kasirajan(2013-14), Dr.R.Natarajan(2014-17) and Dr. S.Kanthimathinathan(2017-20) followed in their footsteps.
Currently, Dr.V.Valliammal is the very first female teaching staff member of our college, who joined in 1996 and has been serving as HOD since 2020.
Mr.S.Karthesan and Dr.J.Ravi Joined in 1998, followed by Dr. M.Neela Devi and Dr.N.Pakshirajan in 2007 and 2017 respectively.
In December 2022, six new staff members were brought on board as assistant professors. They are Dr. N.Krishnan,Dr. M.Krishnamoorthi, Dr.P.S.J.Sudan, Prof.F.Rekha Morais, Dr. M.Thirumathi, Dr.V.Rajkumar.
At present, the total teaching strength of the department is 11.
