Course Details :
Master of Science in Mathematics is a postgraduate programme of two years and it is commissioned in 1983 and aimed to train the students in all basic fields of Mathematics so as to develop in her/him skill for creative thinking. Understanding fundamental concepts of the subjects, problem solving and for achieving professional competence in Mathematics. The course have been designed in such a way that the student will be able to learn the subject in a systematic an methodical manner under the able guidance of the faculty and general environment of the college. There are numerous avenues available to the students after the successful completion of the course. With the wide spectrum of elective courses, a student can opt for a career in research / teaching.
The programme has following features :
A balanced blend of foundational, core and elective courses. Ample scope for enhanced interactive teaching in view of relatively student teacher ratio. Extensive choice of elective enabling the student to specialize into various existing and emerging stream of pure and Applied Mathematics.
This course is suitable for those who are willing to go for teaching fields at higher degree level in private and government institutions. This degree course gives good base for higher degree programs in respective subjects such as M.Phil. and Ph.D. for research work. Students in this field can get work in the government sector, financial sector in private firms and Universities. Work profile can be of Actuarial professional, Teacher, Database Manager, and External Auditor.
