Department of Tamil

The department of Tamil has been rendering its services since the inception of the College in 1951. It offers Tamil under Part - I for all the first year and second year undergraduate students of the college. It follows Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) with continuous assessment. The department has a team of committed professors who are actively engaged in dissemination of knowledge by presenting papers in conferences, publishing articles in reputed journals, and supervising part-time Ph.D. scholars.

Vision:

• To impart knowledge of Tamil language and also to enhance the reading and writing skills, which will helps in accomplishing the knowledge of creativity to all students.

Mission:

• To inculcate the Indian Heritage and culture through literature in the young minds of the students.
• To develop the personality of the students to face interview and personal entity.
• To motivate and stimulate the students to overcome their inferiority complex and improve fluency in the language.
• To promote the development of Tamil community by teaching the Tamil cultural Values through Literature.

Action Plans

• To introduce a Certificate / Diploma course in Folk lore and Journalism in the next academic year.

• To organize a ten day workshop on Classical Sangam literature.
