B.Sc. Chemistry
Course Details :
Chemistry deals with the science of matter and the changes it undergoes. Chemistry is more specialized, being concerned with the composition, behaviour, structure and properties of matter as well as the changes it undergoes during chemical reactions.
B.Sc.Chemistry is a physical science course which studies various substances, atoms, molecules, crystals and other aggregates of matter whether in isolation or combination and which incorporates the concepts of energy and entropy in relation to the spontaneity of chemical processes.
Here’s an interesting fact - Chemistry is known as the Central Science. Why is it called so? Well, chemistry is lodged between Physics and Biology. It provides a foundation for understanding other science disciplines at a fundamental level. For example, fundamentals of chemistry are used to study and understand problems arising in other sciences such as – Botany, Physics, Zoology, Biology and Geology.
It is a 3-year course and is divided into 6 semesters. On successful completion of the course, a B.Sc. graduate can seek employment in various public and private sector organizations. Some of the job designations which are ideal for a B.Sc. Chemistry graduate are Clinical Researcher, Chemist, Technical Writer, Cytologist etc.
